Our Parent-Tot class is the perfect introduction to school for you and your child.
The class meets on Thursday and Friday mornings during the school year, intentionally scheduled for two consecutive days to help your child get acclimated to a school classroom. It is amazing to witness how much more comfortable the children are in class on Fridays.
Parent-Tot is a wonderful place for children, parents, caregivers and teachers to form lasting relationships.
Your child will have the opportunity to learn how to trust and love a teacher and also be comfortable with other adults. Children and parents form friendships that help to create a community both inside and outside of the classroom. These friendships can be a critical support for you as a parent of a young child. While children play in Parent-Tot, our families bond over the joys and challenges of parenting.
In addition, parents and caregivers learn about developmentally appropriate art activities, songs, games and toys to enjoy with their child at school and at home. Fridays always feature a celebration of Shabbat, with candle lighting and communal tasting of delicious freshly baked challah. Children and adults learn Shabbat songs together that we’ve been told have become part of many a family’s Shabbat dinner ritual.
Parents often comment on how much the class opened their eyes to all of the things their child is capable of participating in!
In Parent-Tot, your child learns the rhythms and routines of an early childhood classroom. This comfort is especially helpful when your child is ready to transition to a class on his/her own.
