Akiba-Schechter teachers headed to Italy to study preschool education: The Hyde Park Herald covers our preschool teachers’ study trip to Reggio Emilia in Italy.

Spotlight on Akiba-Schechter’s Afternoon Explorers: Our preschool class of 4- and 5-year-olds is featured on ARKive’s blog for their stellar work in raising funds for this organization dedicated to saving endangered animals.

• 8th grader Zev Goldberg was featured in the Hyde Park Herald for winning first place in the state of Illinois for his Science Fair paper on Methane Hydrates.

• Our all-school production of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown! was featured in a full-page spread in the Hyde Park Herald.

• Akiba-Schechter’s multi-age classroom approach is discussed in Chicago Parent’s Going Places Fall 2013 article “Thinking outside the traditional educational model to teach all students.”

• An article about Akiba-Schechter’s multi-age classroom approach, “Breaking the Age Barrier,” appeared in RAVSAK’s Hayidion Magazine.

• The Boston-based Education Development Center visited 1st/2nd grade teacher Jackie Rapp and filmed the class archaeology unit. Watch the EDC’s film here or read their article about it.

• Five Akiba-Schechter students qualified for the state level of the Chicago Metro History Fair and presented their projects in Springfield, IL. Shmuel Gutman, 8th grader, took home a Blue Ribbon for his paper on the Summerdale Scandal. Read the Hyde Park Herald’s coverage.

• Preschool Director Carla Goldberg provides insight on Choosing Preschool Instead of a Nanny in NPN’s spring 2013 issue of Parent to Parent magazine.
