Grades 1-8 Overview

The Akiba-Schechter Jewish Day School elementary division provides an excellent secular and Judaic education to a diverse community of Jewish children from all over Chicagoland.

Our mission is to promote academic excellence and to develop students with strong Jewish identities, who are committed to responsible citizenship and the performance of mitzvoth. By focusing on the individual gifts and needs of each student, our teachers create a caring family of learners who are committed to responsible citizenship and the performance of mitzvot.

Our school is unique in many ways. The students and teachers come from diverse Jewish observance and cultures, forming a family whose members respect one another because of their differences – not in spite of them. New students are integrated into the Akiba family every year,through multi-age events and all-school programs. Special aspects of our program include small class sizes, multi-age classrooms and flexible age grouping. Our students matriculate to the finest and most prestigious schools in Chicago.
